Thank you for stopping by bridget&lucy. We would love to share all we possibly can about our product line with you.
READY TO WEAR We started making ready to wear clothing. Kim (or Nana to Bridget and Lucy) has been a seamstress all her life. She was making clothes for herself in junior high and made her own wedding dress. Megan (her daughter and Bridget and Lucy's mother) could not fit into the fabulous dress - very sad. BUT when Bridget hit the scene Megan got the sewing bug. Kim taught her (for probably the 40th time) and they both set out to find every fabulous kid's clothes pattern they could. And soon found out a couple things. There was a lot of pattern paper templates and difficult instructions for kid's patterns. Kim put together a muslin skirt base with jelly roll ruffles for Bridget. The comments did not stop. So we decided to host a sale with skirts and hats we had made at a friends house - and we sold out.
QUALITY Our skirts are made of 100% quality cotton - the base and the ruffles. All the embellishments are washable. We do wash them in cold water and tumble dry them on low. If you take the skirts out of the dryer before they are completely dry and shake them out the ruffles will lay nice and flat. They honestly get better as you wash them. For full care instructions with pictures go to the "Tips and Hints" section of our blog www.bridgetandlucy.wordpress.com . SIZING Our size 1 skirt fits a 1 - 2 year old. The size 1 skirt is really too small for an infant - all the fabric seems to overwhelm their tininess. A size 2 fits a 2 - 3 year old and the sizing continues like this through the size 5. Because we use high quality non roll elastic or grommets and a shoelace at our waistbands you can really wear them for a long time and still fit your child's waist. So - here are the lengths in case that is what will ultimately make your decision. Size 1 finished length about 10", Size 2 11", Size 3 12", Size 4 13" and Size 5 14".
PATTERNS With Kim's quilting and garment construction background she gets the job of pattern writing. All of our ready to wear items were original designs and we thought, as sewers, we would LOVE to buy patterns of our pieces. So we embarked on that journey. Our patterns combine quilting techniques and simple garment construction. We do not have pattern paper templates - Megan does not have the patience to use them. All our cutting is done by measurement. Our patterns are made with the fun and creativity in mind. The embellishments that you can add to your piece are truly endless!
Thank you for stopping by. We are having the BEST time working as a mother/daughter team and being inspired by the younger generation of our family. Please stop by again and again and again!
